All about me

So let’s get the boring bit out of the way so we can get to the baked goods.

That’s me, I’m Sophie a.k.a BakeryBird. I’m 25, living in Manchester, England with my gorgeous boyfriend (who sometimes doubles as my Baking assistant/Chief Taster) but more on that later.

I have been baking and brunching all of my life but the real game changer happened when my amazing Grandpa Bill (isn’t he gorgeous?) bought me a KitchenAid mixer for my 24th Birthday.

Since then I have really stepped up my baking game (mainly because I lack the upper body strength to produce light and airy cakes without it) testing my many, many recipes on family, friends and colleagues for the past year or so.

I also invested in a gym membership to prevent developing a literal muffin top.

I hope to share both my baking success and epically embarrassing failures with you along with my obsession with eating Breakfast food at every meal and mission to sample every Afternoon Tea place in England (I know, I’ll do the dirty work so you don’t have to, right?)

Occasionally I might include workout routines and healthy alternatives to my favourite treats but hey, even Beyonce eats what she wants on a Sunday.

Along the way you will get to know my family and friends, dreams and ambitions and the amazing City I live in – it’s not all about the rain y’know?

Me and the Mr have planned three adventures this year already; Paris, Cyprus and New York City baby! I of course, shall be planning all trips around a solid food-tour of local cuisines. I already have a page in my dairy dedicated to doughnut shops in NYC…

So welcome aboard sailor! Hopefully you might find something to tickle your interest and brighten up your day.
